How to assess and improve your own posture to help reduce pain and prevent future injury

Learn gentle sequences to stabilize and strengthen the lower back, hips and pelvis

Passive, safe stretching to release tension and muscle spasms

This workshop is for you if you love cello music (performed by Hans Hessburg), hands-on assists, and slowing down.  

It’s an all levels workshop, guided by Rae Helsel, that is a blend of pausing within the yin and restorative shapes, and gentle flowing for transitions in between. Hands-on assists are offered throughout the practice (touch intention is floating cloud vibes) to help you ground, relax, and reconnect to a fuller sense of your breath. Anddd the live soundtrack of strings by Hans will take you deeper into meditative brain waves as we recover healthy rhythms in our physical and emotional bodies.

This is based on ancient frequencies from the Middle Eastern and East Indian mystics through sound bowls, harmonic chants and guided movement to bring alignment of your body, mind and spirit. There will be three slow movement sections each followed by a five minute holding pose. The poses are all basic, simple and slow. During each holding pose, you’ll be directed in the mind / spirit focus area. There might be “scroll readings” of the song that is playing over your spirit which will be shared at the end of the workshop.

This gentle and restful workshop is all levels, and will start with a moving meditation that calms the energetic body, reduces stress/inflammation, and supports immunity. Followed by breath work to recalibrate and revitalize the nervous system, then will close with restorative and yin shapes that create more muscle pliability, open up a wider range of motion in the joints, and nourish the connective tissues in the body. Gentle hands-on assists will help drop you into the body’s innate relaxation response - come as you are to pause, open, and relax.

But it’s complex without a simple solution which means not all yoga poses are appropriate or therapeutic for everyone. In this workshop, you’ll practice healthy movement patterns that release and strengthen the muscles around the spine while learning how to minimize pain with more than just physical postures.

Aimee Huffman is a certified yoga therapist (C-IAYT) and E-RYT 500 that has advanced training in the treatment of low back pain using yoga as therapy.
