Brave Earth, Costa Rica · From $999/mo

Most retreats hand you a week of rest and send you back to the same life.

This one is built differently.

Eight days at Brave Earth in the Costa Rican rainforest, practicing twice daily, learning breath and nervous system work you can actually use, and eating food picked that morning.

You'll leave with tools.

Expect nature. Expect humidity.

Expect magic.

This isn't a week off.

You'll practice twice a day, but the practice isn't the point — it's the doorway. The work here is with breath patterns, emotional memory, and the holding patterns your body learned a long time ago for reasons that made sense at the time.

Insight doesn't undo those.

You can name your patterns and still live inside them. What changes them is a new experience the old one can't survive — held by people who know how to hold it.

Some of it is dramatic.

The temazcal in the dark, fire and song under the canopy, a dance that goes somewhere words don't.

Most of it isn't.

Most of it is slow mornings, food from the garden, women you've just met telling you the truth over dinner, and a lot of rest.

Both parts are the work.

If you've been circling something for a while … waiting for the right week, the right permission, the right people to be held by … this is us telling you the week exists.

Let’s do this together.

YOUR GUIDES

Owner and Lead Instructor, Alpine Hot Yoga · E-RYT 500, C-IAYT, YACEP

Aimee Huffman

If you've practiced at Alpine, you know Aimee. A former Division 1 volleyball athlete turned yoga therapist, she came to this work through her own injuries and mental health challenges, and it shows in how she teaches — grounded, warm, and genuinely attentive to what's happening in the room.

Her focus is trauma-aware, accessible practice: helping people feel safer in their bodies, steadier under stress, and more resilient over time. She teaches therapeutic workshops and wellness programs across the country, and she'll bring the same steadiness to eight days in the jungle that she brings to a Tuesday night class.

Outside the studio: hiking, fantasy novels, Scrabble, horses, and a Bernedoodle named Pascual.

Yoga teacher-trainer, breath-pattern reader, sovereignty coach

Jenna McDonald

Jenna is a lifetime teacher-trainer whose work helps people reclaim their sense of worth from the forces that compromised it in the first place. She reads breath patterns — the ones your body learned young and never stopped running — and teaches the imagination and nervous system work that lets them change.

Her approach is embodiment with context. Without that context, you end up internalizing the impact of broken systems and calling it your mindset. She's clear that it isn't, and she's direct about it.

She leads the retreat's workshop track: breathwork, memory reconsolidation, and applied philosophy grounded in adult development and neurobiology.
