The Art of Hands on Assist Part 1

This workshop is designed for yoga teachers, aspiring teachers on the path to certification, or anyone looking to deepen their understanding of yoga postures. Assisting is a powerful way to enhance your knowledge of yoga, practice loving-kindness, and explore the healing power of safe and appropriate touch.

In this immersive training, you'll learn how to give hands-on assists using verbal cues, physical touch, and energetic awareness. You'll develop the ability to observe students' practices and tailor assists that are safe, effective, and personalized.

You Will Review:

- Alignment of Open Hip poses, Closed Hip poses, Backbends, Forward Bends, Hand Balancing, Twists, and Supine poses

You Will Learn:

- How to observe students and identify the assist that best supports their practice

- Skills for offering safe, mindful hands-on assists

- Energetic, mental, and intuitive techniques to guide your touch

Workshop Goals:

- Energetic Awareness: Tune into students' energy and adjust assists accordingly

- Safe Touch: Learn the foundations of safe and appropriate physical contact

- Deepening Touch: Explore how to help students deepen into poses through assists

- Injury Assisted Adjustments: Offer modifications to address injuries and pre-existing conditions

Student Outcomes:

By the end of this workshop, teachers will feel more confident in their ability to offer hands-on assists during yoga classes. They will develop sensitivity to students' energy, know how to adjust the intensity of their touch, and be equipped to provide injury-assisted modifications when necessary.

This workshop qualifies for Yoga Alliance YACEP Continuing education hours.
